Howdy -
I'm Callie Riggs—the Founder and Designer of Alder West.
Growing up in Louisiana, hats were as common as crawfish at a boil — yet most seemed to be cut from the same cloth. I wanted to break that mold and create something uniquely my own.
In 2021, I immersed myself in the art of hat-making, learning traditional techniques from a seasoned hat maker. Each day since has been a journey of honing my craft and pushing creative boundaries.
This journey led to the creation of Alder West. Here, I combine time-honored craftsmanship with innovative designs to create hats that not only fit but also make a statement.

What’s your approach to the craft?
To me, A hat is an extension of ones persona against all the elements. You want them to capture a person’s essence. It’s the same with a great portrait photograph. And no two people are the same, so no two hats should be either. The rest of it comes down to quality.
In our age of fast fashion and mass production, I think we’re losing the magic of enjoying things crafted meticulously with passion. Things with soul. Things that endure.
My goal is to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces that last a lifetime, and make you feel a spark of joy every time you slip them on.
